2X AF 7 (MC7) Element Teleconverter For Pentax Lenses with Lifetime Guarantee Reviews
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Exactly what I needed, August 17, 2010 By This review is from: 2X AF 7 (MC7) Element Teleconverter For Pentax Lenses with Lifetime Guarantee (Electronics) I was either looking for a teleconverter or a telezoom lens.
I already have the pentax 50-200mm, so a teleconverter was a more practical decision.
My k-7 recognizes the teleconverter and lens combo.
The autofocus works, in some situations sometimes not.
(usually in indirect sunlight/dim lighting)
Overall very good quality, to get the best out of this you need to have a high speed lens to begin with
(I was using f/4's)
This product was able to meet my specifications.

I use it with a 70-300 zoom and it is fine until you get to the 300, then it will absolutely not focus. It focuses fine at the lower levels, but not all the way out. I tried to do it manually, and you can do it, but so far none of the resulting pix have been in "true" focus. My previous lens, which went missing, was able to focus when I zoomed all the way out. Other than that, the lens works fine.

It is a 2x, autofocus model. I took it out this morning before the sun broke through the clouds for a test. I've uploaded the results, a series of shots of a suet feeder. I used a Pentax K-r with a DA 55-300mm f4-5.5 lens. I used a tripod with a two second time delay for all photos because of the cloudy conditions and the expected long shutter speed while using the teleconverter. While shooting I used ISO 100, f8.0, EV=-0.3. The first two shots in the series are with the teleconverter, and the lens at 300mm, then 55mm. Shutter speed was 1/15. The next two are without the teleconverter, lens at 300mm, then 55mm, both with shutter speed of 1/60.
The autofocus worked quickly on both. However, it did not seem to focus as sharply at 300mm as it did at 55mm. I'm sure with manual override I could get a sharper image. The teleconverter mounted and dismounted very easily from my camera.
After the sun came out, changing only to ISO 400 and... Read more
