One of the great unsung hero lenses, April 4, 2012 By Marcus Sr. (Woodbridge, VA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Tamron SP AF 17-35MM F2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical IF A05 W/HOOD (Electronics) I have had this lens for about five years now and I was thinking of replacing it with a Canon 17-40L lens. However after looking at some of the images produce with this lens, I can't see replacing it. It is very sharp! And after five years of heavy use it still looks almost new, no scratches or marks that show up on the barrel or the mount. The glass is still crystal clear and the internal mechanisms work really well. I've borrowed a Canon 17-40 and a Canon 16-35 for comparison and the Tamron holds its own against both. I bought this and a Tamron 28-75 around the same time and I use them with my 40D, my 1D mark III and EOS 1 RS. I bought them because they worked with both full frame and cropped image cameras. I am continually impressed with both of these lenses, both in workmanship and performance.
Evenually I will replace them with Canon L lenses, but there is a report that Tamron is making a new 24-70 f.2.8 for full frame cameras. If it is anything like these lenses, it will be... Read more
